Nobody's on Nobody's Side

Young brunette nurse Samantha James knew all too well she was in for a handful when she was handed the file of former chess world champion Fredrick "Freddie" James Trumper. She'd seen a line of her coworkers go in, and out of his room since his arrival. Freddie had a reputation for a very short temper and childish behavior, and it was certainly showing that night. Sammy shook her head and headed to his room.

Freddie laid on his side away from the door. "Go away!" He yelled when someone walked in.

Sammy shook her head. "Not going to happen Mr. Trumper," she said. "as long as you're still here, you're taking up space in my emergency room, space I could be using to take care of someone who actually want my help."

"I want to leave its the stupid people that are keeping me here." Freddie snapped,

"We're trying to take care of you Mr. Trumper," said Sammy. "I don't think you can play chess with your hand the way it is, it could be broken."

Freddie made at face at Sammy.

Sammy rolled her eyes. "Fine, I'll just let you lose to a Russian again."

Freddie hissed and held out his hand.

Sammy smirked a bit. "I thought you'd see it my way," she said, going over to take a look at Freddie's hand. "So, lemme guess, brick wall?"

"Stone not brick." Freddie replied

"Stone wall this time, moving on up the 'dangerous items that will shatter my hands if I punch them' list then are, Freddie?" Sammy said.

Freddie rolled his eyes. "The stone wall was smoother then the brick wall.

"Still dangerous," said Sammy. "Smooth has nothing to do with it."

Freddie snorted, "I know that...." Jay pecked his head into the room his mother was in, he had just got in from school.

"Yet, you punched it anyway.." Sammy rolled her eyes, not seeing Jay there.

"Because i wanted to." Freddie said dryly as he spotted Jay, "Your hospital has a rugrat problem."

Sammy turned to see what Freddie meant and spotted Jay. "Jay-Jay, go wait for me in the nurse's lounge, alright sweetie?"

Jay nodded, "Ok momma." He said before doing like she said. Freddie snorted again, "Ok momma." He mocked.

"You can be rude to me if you must," said Sammy. "Leave my son out of it."

"Fine." Freddie sighed as he waited for her to finish.

"Doesn't seem like you've broken anything," said Sammy. "I'll just clean up where you busted your knuckles open and wrap it up for you."

Freddie nodded before asking, "Where is the rugrats dad?"

"Not that it's any of your business," said Sammy. "but I left him."

"Why?" Freddie asked, strangly curious.

"Because he abused me," said Sammy. "again, not that it's any of your business."
